International Thematic Clusters in Engineering


 

In order to be informed of all the important steps before and during your first semester at Polytechnique Montréal, follow the new student journey, which has been specially developed forfor clusters and exchange students. It is an essential reminder!

AFTER RECEIVING THE ADMISSION OFFER

IMPORTANT: Applicants who come from one of our partner institutions and have received an offer of admission through an exchange or double degree program don't need to answer.
⇒ Complete your immigration procedures (international students).
  • As soon as you receive your letter of admission, you should begin immigration proceedings to obtain the authorizations required for all international students. These procedures can be lengthy (3 to 6 months on average) and can vary according to your personal situation.  Note that immigration procedures can be started with a conditional offer of admission.
Start looking for accommodation (if applicable).
Learn about your health and dental insurance coverage.
⇒ Plan your arrival in Canada.
IMPORTANT: Certain specific conditions may apply depending on your situation and/or the program for which you have received an offer of admission. Please refer to the guidelines provided in your letter of admission.

APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH BEFORE THE START OF CLASS

Get your computer access code (see tutorial).
⇒ Register for the semester and get your class schedule.
⇒ Register to a laboratory internship (if applicable).
⇒ Register to a French course (if applicable).
⇒ Get access to your Polytechnique email (see tutorial).
⇒ Get access to Moodle (see tutorial).
⇒ Sign the mandatory code of conduct.

DURING BACK-TO-SCHOOL SEASON

Get your Polytechnique ID card.
⇒ Get your student OPUS card (public transport).
⇒ Attend your welcome session and participate in GO-Poly activities (information kiosks, guided tours, etc.).
⇒ Start your courses at Polytechnique Montréal.
⇒ Connect to wireless network (wifi) of Polytechnique Montréal.
Get your course manuals.
⇒ Provide the documents required to confirm your identity, your legal status in Canada, and your Quebec residency status to the registrar’s office no later than the course selection deadline.
⇒ Provide proof of exemption from the Health and Hospitalization Insurance Plan for International Students (AMHPEI) to the registrar by e-mail before the deadline (international students).
⇒ Modify your course selection before the deadline (if necessary).

DURING THE FIRST SEMESTER

⇒ Pay fees. As an exchange student, you continue to pay your tuition fees to your home institution. However, some students will be required to pay the international student health and hospital insurance (ASHEE) during their stay at Polytechnique. An email notice will be sent to inform you that your tuition invoice for your insurance fees is available in your student file. 
⇒ If necessary: drop a course (no mention of failure).

The international exchange program coordinator at your home institution will be able to download your transcript at the end of January on our Alfresco server.
