7. Housing

You are not sure if you want to rent before or after your arrival? There are pros and cons for each of those options!

1. If you decide to find you apartment once you arrive in Montreal, we recommend you to you book accommodation in a hotel or youth hostel at least for the week immediately following your arrival. Before your departure, you should nevertheless start to acquaint yourself with the reality of housing in Montreal (price ranges, neighborhood, signing the lease, etc.).
2. If you rent your housing from abroad, you will have a roof once you arrive, but beware of frauds and make sure you have all the necessary information before you sign a lease! There is some useful information in our "Start Searching" section where you will find specific websites to search for housing.
3. Workshops to help you find housing (in French) will be offer at the beginning of each semester.

PLEASE NOTE: the end of August and the beginning of September is a very busy tourist season and also coincides with the arrival of thousands of students in Montreal. Without prior reservations, you will have difficulty finding a hotel room.
