A huge tool for surgeons
In November 2016, the research of Frédéric leblond received the prix de La Recherche 2016, Technologie.
The science breakthrough is about a real-time probe (from the Raman technology) for brain tumours…which can be used in surgery. Very highly specific and accurate, the probe can discriminate cancer cells and healthy cells. Then, the cancer cells can be deleted and we avoid the cancer again. The technology is already used in Humans.
The award
On the November 30th in Paris, twelve research teams received the «prix de La Recherche», from the magazine La Recherche. Dozens of scientific papers candidate, from French-research team, across the world.
The recipients were selected by a jury (with peers and journalists) on a recommendation by a scientific committee. The award first, celebrates research teams with very high impact work and second, promotes their work to the public with the magazine.
