Engineering Physics

Our department

Our department welcomes nearly 30 professors and researchers, whom with their employees and students do research in physical engineering to progress.

With four research areas, 5 chairs and many research groups and labs.

Our student and graduate quality with our high level of funding (public and industrial) highlight the vitality of our research.

History

2008-2009 year was the 50th anniversary of the Engineering Physics program. The department made many activities show the reputation and achievements of the Department in the history of physical sciences and technologies in Quebec, Canada and the world.

The main activities of our 50th anniversary were:

  • «Grande fête du génie physique»: a day when the big family of the Department was reunited, from professors to old students, from partners to members of the department.  A visit of our laboratories, seminars and cocktails was part of that great day.  Date: October 27th, 2008.
  • Publication of documents relating to the department’s history and current strengths
  • Other activities and meetings gave us the opportunity to celebrate our 50th anniversary all year long.  This included: the exhibition «Physique de femmes» (partnership with CNRS-MELS) from the 16th to the 23rd of February 2009, seminars, symposiums, and an open house.
