Detailed description
Our team has been manufacturing chitosan for years but the depolymerization and recovery/purification processes could be improved to decrease production time. The sub-objectives of the project are to optimize:
1) The depolymerization of chitosan with hydrogen peroxide and concentrated hydrochloric acid and
2) The recovery of chitosan by using either low pressure ion exchange chromatography, reverse osmosis or tangential flow filtration.
Financing possibility
Project funded by an Alliance/CRSNG/Prima grant
