The study of biomaterials is an exciting field for researchers from various branches of science and engineering. Interest in this area is also growing in Canada in general, and especially at the École Polytechnique and University of Montreal. The EPM has always had a pioneering role and activities in the fields of biomaterials and medical device design in Canada, and is also quite competitive on an international level. Our activities cover teaching, research and conferences for the dissemination of knowledge.
Our education and training mission aims:
- to give our undergraduate students the opportunity to fulfill their personal, academic and professional potential through a learning experience that is intellectually challenging, professionally relevant, up-to-date, stimulating and enjoyable.
- to produce graduates with the skills, knowledge and attitudes that are necessary to secure employment and to make an early and significant contribution in the biomedical engineering and biomaterials industries education and research.
- to produce graduates with the skills, knowledge and attitudes that are necessary become, in due course, corporate members of the appropriate professional bodies.
- to produce graduates whose professional skills and ethics enhance the standing of their profession and benefit the wider society.
- pto produce graduates who recognize that learning is a continuing process and who have the skills and attitudes to continue to learn.
Teaching is carried out through various courses and the LIAB contributes substantially by designing and presenting courses directly relevant to the Biomaterials research field.
