Humanities: Polytechnique Montréal researchers involved in research projects and partnerships
Ten Polytechnique researchers are participating in research initiatives supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada - SSHRC.

On June 15, 2021, the SSHRC announced financial support for research activities through partnership grants, partnership development grants, Insight grants and Insight development grants, and this, in the context of competitions held in 2020.
Through their engineering expertise, several members of the Polytechnique community have contributed to various research projects and partnerships in the humanities:
-
Full Professor Catherine Beaudry (Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering) is a collaborator on the research project entitled "Les enjeux de gouvernance des projets collaboratifs R&D des centres de transfert technologique de l'industrie 4.0.” whose candidate is Assistant Professor Magali Simard, from the Université Laval's Faculté des sciences de l'administration.
-
Full Professor Nora Boulahia Cuppens and Full Professor Frédéric Cuppens (both, Department of Computer Engineering and Software Engineering), are co-applicants of a research partnership entitled “The Human-Centric Cybersecurity Partenariatship” whose main candidate is Full Professor Benoît Dupont, from the Université de Montréal's École de criminologie de la Faculté des arts et des sciences.
- Assistant Professor Jinghui Cheng (Department of Computer Engineering and Software Engineering), is co-applicant of a research project entitled "Enseignement de l'histoire et jeux vidéos", the candidate of which is Full Professor Marc-André Éthier from the Université de Montréal's Département de didactique de la Faculté des sciences de l'éducation.
- Polytechique's Department of Chemical Engineering Assistant Professor Guillaume Majeau-Bettez, Associate Professor Sophie Bernard, and Full Professor Manuele Margni (Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering), are co-applicants of the research partnership entitled "The mining for circularity partnership ”whose main candidate is Professor Geoffrey McCarney, from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa.
- Professor Sophie Bernard is co-applicant of a research project entitled “Integrating interdisciplinary perspectives on circular economy” whose candidate is Full Professor Emmanuel Raufflet, from HEC Montréal’s Département de management.
- Full Professor Catherine Morency, Assistant Professor Geneviève Boisjoly and Associate Professor Owen Waygood (Department of Civil, Geological and Mining Engineering), are co-applicants of a research partnership entitled “Mobilizing justice: towards evidence-based transportation equity policy” whose principal candidate is Associate Professor Steven Farber from the University of Toronto's Department of Human Geography.
As a university, Polytechnique Montréal is also participating in a research partnership entitled "Partenariat pour l'expérimentation et l'analyse comparée des meilleures pratiques de pilotage des organisations agissant comme intermédiaires d'innovation ouverte en santé", whose candidate is Full Professor Patrick Cohendet, from the Département d’affaires internationales at HEC Montréal.
"More than ever, the past year has shown that society cannot progress without the solid contribution of researchers in Canada and elsewhere. Advancing knowledge and ideas across all disciplines - humanities, natural sciences, health sciences, and engineering - is essential to meeting the challenges we face and finding the solutions we need to make Canada healthier, safer, more innovative, and more prosperous," comments Ted Hewitt, SSHRC President and Chair of the Steering Committee of the Canada Research Chairs Program.
Note that the Government of Canada has also announced the granting or renewal of support for the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council Discovery Grants Program for research programs led by 23 researchers at Polytechnique Montreal.
The Canadian federal government also announced the renewal of the Level 2 Canada Research Chair in Quantitative Magnetic Resonance Imaging held by Associate Professor Julien Cohen-Adad, from Polytechnique's Department of Electrical Engineering
