PRESENTATION

Our Undergraduate Research Internship Program offers students enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in science or engineering at a Canadian university the opportunity to receive competitive funding to undertake a 16-week research internship in Summer 2027, under the supervision of a professor at Polytechnique Montréal.

AVAILABLE INTERNSHIPS

Our research teams offer exciting research internship opportunities that span multiple engineering disciplines. Most of the proposed projects can also be continued as part of a master’s and/or doctoral degree.

The full list of research projects available for Summer 2027 will be announced in September 2026.

INTERNSHIP DATES

16-week internships (35 hours/week), from May 3 to August 20, 2027

AVAILABLE FUNDING

Each participant selected for the program will receive a competitive financial package designed to support a rewarding and immersive research experience. This funding includes:

• Approximately $10,800 in salary for the 16-week internship, at an hourly rate of $19.26 (including benefits), based on 35 hours per week;
• Accommodation in the residences located on campus for the duration of the internship, or an equivalent salary supplement of $2,700 to help cover living expenses;
• A $3,000 entrance scholarship, offered to interns who subsequently choose to pursue their studies at Polytechnique Montréal in a master's or doctoral program.

ACCOMMODATIONS

All participants will be offered accommodation at the ZUM University Residences for the duration of their internship. Located directly on campus, the residences are less than a three-minute walk from Polytechnique Montréal. The program coordinators will take care of making the necessary reservations.

Participants who do not wish to take advantage of this accommodation offer will instead receive a $2,700 salary supplement to help cover their living expenses.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for the program, you must:

• Be enrolled full-time at a Canadian university in the 3rd or 4th year of a STEM bachelor’s program (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics);
• Demonstrate a strong interest in engineering, applied research, and pursuing graduate studies;
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale (3.0 on 4.3 | 7/10 | 70% | B);
• If you do not hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status in Canada: you must have a valid study permit covering the duration of the internship.

PREPARING YOUR APPLICATION 

Your application may be prepared in either French or English and must include the following documents:

• The candidate identification and internship selection form, duly filled;
• A cover letter describing: 1) your interest in engineering and applied research, 2) your academic and career goals, 3) your interest in potentially pursuing a master’s or PhD, 4) your previous internship experience (if applicable), 5) the reasons for each of your internship project choices, and 6) your vision of what an internship at Polytechnique Montréal would bring you personally, academically, and professionally;
• A scanned copy of all your university transcripts;
• Your curriculum vitae (CV);
• If you do not hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status in Canada: a copy of your valid study permit;
• Optional: a letter of recommendation from a professor or any other individual able to attest to the strength of your application.

EVALUATION AND SELECTION PROCESS
