Cybersecurity and cyber-resilience

Fully qualified, deeply committed students

Polytechnique Montréal fully supports initiatives taken by students interested in cybersecurity, and acknowledges that through practical examples and networking, skills and knowledge are acquired.

In terms of associations, the Department of Computer and Software Engineering’s technical society PolyHX has had a computer security branch for several years. Student members organize security competitions such as CTF, while PolyHX finances sending a delegation of students to HackFest, and May 2020’s NSec2020, among other notable events. Above and beyond financial and administrative support, the security-focused branch of the student organization holds weekly training workshops for the entire Polytechnique community.

PolyHX students were approached by the CSE-CST to launch the WeAreCyber Students network, and organized a one-day competition attended by over 150 Quebec university and CEGEP students. The latter event was used as an opportunity to discuss policies inherent to cybersecurity careers. Future-forward and able to embrace change with panache, PolyHX and Polytechnique Montréal - as well as graduates therefrom - have been hosts to numerous cybersecurity-related events and activities.
