Polytechnique Montréal is at the forefront

Canada’s digital economy was worth some $109.7 billion in 2017, an amount that in terms of GDP, is larger than the mining or gas sectors and even the wholesale or retail sectors. Digital use is experiencing a marked increase in every economic sector, especially in health, critical infrastructure, and online transaction sectors - without overlooking agriculture or transportation. This burgeoning usage is marked by the arrival of 5G technologies and the Internet of Things (IoT). Yet, simultaneous to omnipresent digital technologies is the very real issue of cybersecurity, given that the ability to face cyber-threats and secure web data are sizable challenges, with nearly 1-in-5 companies expected to face cyber-attacks, and companies spending $14 million to prevent such attacks.

Cybersecurity and cyber-resilience are serious considerations in terms of maintaining digital confidence. Aware of the digital sovereignty challenges that the world faces, and keenly desiring to contribute to national and international efforts to combat cyber-threats, Polytechnique Montréal is once again at the forefront of technological developments.

GROUNDED IN QUÉBEC, CANADIAN, AND INTERNATIONAL CYBER-ECOSYSTEMS, POLYTECHNIQUE MONTRÉAL’S GRCC - GROUPE DE RECHERCHE EN CYBERSÉCURITÉ ET CYBER RESILIENCE (CYBERSECURITY AND CYBER-RESILIENCE RESEARCH GROUP) IS SET TO PLAY A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF CYBERSECURITY AND CYBER-RESILIENCE RESEARCH, INNOVATION, TALENT CULTIVATION, AND POLICY CREATION.
