The acatech General Assembly has welcomed Professor Wu to its academy in recognition of his many contributions to science and engineering. Of note, Ke Wu has been granted an honorary mandate to advise Germany policy makers and society about technology-related issues. He has also been invited to take part in the academy's thematic networking activities.

Founded in 2002, the acatech academy provides advice about strategic policies related to engineering and technology in Germany. Its members are leading scientists in the fields of engineering, natural sciences, medicine, humanities, and social sciences.

For Ke Wu, this is a rare honour, given that within the acatech academy there are few non-Germans and few professors from a Canadian educational and research institution.

"I’m extremely honoured and humbled to be part of acatech. This academy is not only a prestigious assembly of eminent scientists and engineers, but also a well-organized and active working group that advises companies and governments. I hope to use my strong European connections to help develop many collaborations between Polytechnique Montréal and various European partners," noted Professor Wu.

Professor Wu has received numerous awards and honours throughout his career, including the Prix Urgel-Archambault from Acfas in 1999, the inaugural Outstanding Young Engineer Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (IEEE MTT-S) in 2001, the Reginald Audrey Fessenden Medal from IEEE Canada in 2004 and the Thomas W. Eadie Medal from the Royal Society of Canada in 2009. He also earned the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2013 and the IEEE MTT-S Microwave Applications Award in 2014.

Ke Wu was awarded the Prix Marie-Victorin by the Government of Québec in 2014, the IEEE Montreal Section Recognition Medal in 2015, the Polytechnique Montréal Prix d’excellence en recherche et innovation in 2015, the IEEE MTT-S Microwave Award in 2019 and the Julian C. Smith Medal of the Engineering Institute of Canada in 2021. Professor Wu is also a Fellow of the IEEE, the Canadian Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society of Canada.

Professor Wu will receive a certificate of acatech membership during the academy’s next general assembly, expected to take place in Berlin in October 2022.

Congratulations to Professor Wu!
