The BRCDT works to build and maintain close and productive relationships between the École Polytechnique and funding agencies, companies and the scientific community.

In close collaboration with the departments concerned and Financial Services, it promotes research by assisting professors and researchers in preparing their grant applications and in negotiating R&D contracts and framework agreements. The BRCDT also helps secure financial support for projects and administers research funds.

The BRCDT is supported by a multidisciplinary, 18-member team that manages an annual research budget of almost $50 million—over 325 research contracts and agreements plus some 330 grants from provincial and federal agencies.
