Biography

Bruno Massicotte is Professor at the department of Civil, Geological and Mining Engineering at Polytechnique de Montréal. He obtained is bachelor degree in Civil Engineering and his master degree in Structural Engineering at Laval University in 1982 and 1984 respectively, and his doctorate degree in Structural Engineering at the University of Alberta in 1988. After his studies, Dr. Massicotte joined the Quebec Ministry of Transportation bridge office and began an academic carrier at Polytechnique Montréal in 1990.

Active in teaching and research, professor Massicotte has been leading research activities in collaboration with various public organisations and industrial partners. His research areas combine experimental and analytical activities and focus mostly on the analysis, design and strengthening of bridges, on the nonlinear finite element analysis of concrete structures, and on the structural use of fibre reinforced concrete. He is member of the Canadian Bridge Code CSA-S6 Technical Committee and Chair of this Code Committee on Methods of Analysis.

For more than 25 years he has been member of several scientific and standard committees related to the structural use of fibre reinforced concrete: RILEM TC162, FIB TG4.1, ACI-239, ACI-544, CSA-S6-Annex 8.1, and CSA-A23.1-Annex U.
