Research Program
The research program has three main focus areas:
- Risk analysis at drinking water intakes (20%)
- Development and integration of innovative processes in drinking water (45%)
- Quality of drinking water in distribution systems (35%)
The capabilities available at Polytechnique Montreal for implementation research projects include:
- Analytical chemistry and microbiology laboratories: These labs were set up in 1992 and have been upgraded for drinking water research activities.
- Containment Level 2 Microbiology Research Laboratory: This lab, funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), allows the team to carry out research on pathogenic organisms (e.g., Legionella, parasites).
- CREDEAU‘s new facility. This drinking water research facility, created following grants of $6.2 million in 2004 and 2012, includes state-of-the-art analytical equipment for measurement of micropollutants as well as pilot units for experiments at two scales: mobile laboratory and industrial pilot unit (housed in two 16 m semi-trailers).
