At the 2004 Mini Baja East collegiate design competition, held May 6, 7 and 8 at Bromont Ski Centre, the Polytechnique entry, up against some 60 teams from engineering schools in Canada, the United States and Mexico, took second place behind a team from Montréal's École de technologie supérieure.

Polytechnique team results:

  • 2nd place, Overall
  • 2rd place, Endurance Race
  • 3rd place, Top Speed
  • 3rd place, Land Manoeuvrability

The all-terrain vehicle designed and manufactured by the team efficiently used all the power of its regulation 10-hp Briggs & Stratton snowblower motor to deliver these excellent results on the very rough terrain of the Bromont course.

With this result, the team from Polytechnique, which was competing in the regional Mini Baja East competition for the first time, qualifies for the Dayton Cup, emblematic of North American Mini Baja supremacy, and is also slated to take part in the Midwest Mini Baja Competition from June 4 to 6 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
