The CPSC Trailblazer Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated novelty and creativity through leadership, vision, courage and commitment, and who have positively and significantly impacted the Canadian science, technology and innovation ecosystem.
Three Trailblazer Awards are presented every year, with one in each of the following categories: Innovation Policy, Science for Policy and Policy for Science.
Polytechnique Montréal's Catherine Beaudry was chosen in recognition of her exceptional contribution to Canadian innovation policy. The Selection Committee said it was very impressed by the many ways in which she has blazed a trail and helped advance the field.
Professor Beaudry is extremely honoured to receive this award, which comes as the CPSC is organizing its 15th annual conference and Polytechnique Montréal is celebrating its 150th anniversary.
"This award means a lot to me, as it highlights the importance of the years of collaborative research I've done on the connections between various aspects of the science, technology and innovation system," she said. "It's gratifying to know that my research findings are generating so much interest within the public sector."
Professor Beaudry also made a point of highlighting the work of one of the other prizewinners. "It is all the more meaningful to receive this award alongside the Honourable Kirsty Duncan, who also researches women in science and has dedicated her heart and soul to improving the science system in Canada."
Congratulations, Professor Beaudry!
