Supply Security In International Natural Gas Markets and the Effects of Expanding the Panama Canal on LNG Flows

This presentation provides an analysis of liquefied natural gas (LNG) flows worldwide after expansion of the Panama Canal. This expansion will allow for increased natural gas flow between North America and Asia but the volume depends on the canal tariff. The presentation makes use of the World Gas Model, co-developed by Dr. Gabriel and others, a large-scale, mixed complementarity model of global natural gas markets. Issues of supply security in natural gas markets are also discussed.
