Seminar: Modelizing the writing process using graph theory

Seminar: Modelizing the writing process using graph theory

“Meet a GERAD researcher!” seminar

Title: Modelizing the writing process using graph theory

Speaker: Hélène-Sarah Bécotte-Boutin – Polytechnique Montréal, Canada

Writing is a complex process. Many fields and techniques are combined to analyze and understand the temporal dimension of a text and the different writing strategies.

When a text has been written using a specific software on a computer, it is possible to record the entirety of the writing process and consequently to have access to information about all the different operations that have been made.

The goal of this research is to transform the writing data using graph theory to create descriptive measures and visualization tools that can help the researchers in their analyses of the observable traces of the writing process.
