The deeptech approach is booming around the world. It relies on pooling complementary sources of expertise to accelerate technological development by targeting specific needs and at the same time factoring in market and production constraints.

Bringing together scientists, engineers and specialists with various types of expertise, the Lassonde Institute will act as an innovation catalyst. Conducive to interdisciplinary work, its dynamic culture of collaboration will guide the development of technologies in the fields of communications, health, national security and more. The deeptech approach is recommended as a means of encouraging the emergence of “disruptive innovations.” As the name suggests, these innovations revolutionize a field rather than providing only incremental improvements.
