Biography
My research focuses on the study of mine tailings, with a particular interest in hydrogeological behavior under unsaturated conditions, the geochemical behavior of tailings and mine waste rock, cover systems, the valorization and reuse of mine tailings, and the progressive reclamation of dry stack. My research combines laboratory work, in-situ instrumentation, large-scale field tests, and numerical modeling to evaluate the long-term performance of reclamation methods. I am also interested in developing multiparametric in situ monitoring approaches that integrate hydrogeological measurements, geophysical surveys, and geochemical analyses to better understand the processes that control the behavior of surface-stored mine tailings. These approaches contribute to the development of sustainable management and reclamation solutions that are adapted to the environmental and operational realities of mining sites.
