Biography
Dr. Amir Reza Mamdoohi defended his PhD thesis in Civil Eng. Faculty of Sharif University of Technology (SUT) with an excellent degree in 2005 and started his career as a faculty member in the Institute for Management and Planning Studies (IMPS). In 2006, he was appointed as the Director General of Educational Planning and Modeling Office, and in 2007 as the Director General of Research Planning and Coordination Office at IMPS. He was transferred in 2009 to the Highway Engineering Department of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Faculty of Trabiat Modares University (TMU) where his collaboration resulted in the establishment of Transportation Planning Course at the Masters degree in the same year. He held the position of the Head of Highway Engineering Department (2010-2013) where he managed to recruit four new faculty members, establish Transportation Planning Department in 2013, and hold the responsibility of this newly established department for six years until 2018.
He managed to establish the PhD course in Transportation Planning in 2013 at TMU (as the third university in Iran with PhD course in Transportation Planning) and Transportation Laboratory in 2017 that he still has the responsibility of.
In addition to collaborating with different journals as reviewer, he started collaboration as a member of editorial board of different specialized transportation and traffic journals including Journal of Geotechnical & Transportation Engineering, International Journal of Transportation Engineering, Journal of Transportation Engineering, Journal of Traffic Management Studies, Transportation Research Journal and Journal of Road.
He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2016 and after a few months, he was appointed as the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the faculty for about three years and simultaneously, the Dean of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Faculty in 2019 for about a year.
His honors include Top Researcher of the University in 2013, 2014, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2022; outstanding professor 2014 and 2020; highest score in teaching quality for 6 years (2009-2014 and 2022); and excellence promotion for three consecutive years 2020 to 2022.
He has supervised and co-advised more than 15 PhD and 120 MS theses, published more than 190 journal papers and more than 120 conference papers. His international collaboration has resulted in signing memorandum of understanding (MOUs) with TU Wien (Austria), TU Berlin (Germany) and IST (Portugal) and action plans including joint international workshops, seminars, theses co-advisorship, projects and papers.
His international projects include Innovative Traffic Congestion Alleviation for Dubai, a Proposed Short-Term Action Plan, Blue City Master Plan Revision and Sustainable Urban Mobility Research in Central Asia (SUMRICA).
His national projects include Comprehensive Transportation and Traffic Studies of Tehran, Mashhad, Shiraz, Esfahan, Boushehr, Hamedan, Qazvin, Qom and Parand; Khouzestan Steel Company Site Transportation Planning and Management; Comprehensive Studies of CNG Station Location Problem; Teleworking Impact Study for the City of Tehran; Pricing and Effectiveness of Tehran CBD; Assessment of Tehran new traffic scheme and feasibility of its extension to odd-even area; Tehran Transportation and Traffic Studies and Policies; Tehran Transportation Demand Management Studies; Planning and Research Services of the 18th and 19th International Conference on Traffic and Transportation Engineering; and Location and Layout Studies of Qazvin Logistics Village.
