Detailed description

PROJECT DETAILS:

We are looking for a highly motivated doctoral candidate for a project that is in collaboration with a reputable aerospace manufacturing company located in Québec, Canada. Thin-walled parts are commonly used in aerospace, automotive, and energy industries. Despite advantages, manufacturing of these flexible components suffers from low productivity with conservative techniques. Hence, it is highly critical to develop the digital process twin of advanced machining processes to boost the productivity and component quality.

The project will be led by Assistant Professor Oguzhan Tuysuz in The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal, and the candidate will develop theoretical and practical skills in:

  1. physics and data-driven (machine learning) model development, programming, optimization and experimental validation techniques for advanced machining processes,
  2. minimization of corrective post-machining operations,
  3. development of scientifically advanced theory for adaptive manufacturing process parameters through digitalization,
  4. effective communication skills via presentations and technical publications.

Financing possibility

Funding is available at the level recommended by Polytechnique Montréal.
