Detailed description
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate for a project on green-state machining (GSM) of difficult-to-cut materials. Current cchallenges in GSM necessitate development of physics-based, advanced analytical and numerical methods to ensure flawless part manufacturing particularly for near-net-shaped geometries having small error margins. The objective of the proposed project is to advance the understanding and use of GSM through the developed mathematical models, reduce tool wear, boost the productivity and component quality.
The project will be led by Assistant Professor Oguzhan Tuysuz in The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal, and the candidate will develop theoretical and practical skills in:
- physics-based model development, programming, optimization and experimental validation techniques for advanced machining processes,
- multi-scale computational modeling of mechanics of materials,
- development of scientifically advanced theory for adaptive manufacturing process parameters through,
- effective communication skills via presentations and technical publications.
Financing possibility
FUNDING:
Funding is available at levels recommended by Polytechnique Montréal for qualified candidates.
