Poly team returns victorious from 2006 Québec Engineering Games

13 janvier 2006 - Source : NOUVELLES
The 44 students who defended Poly pride at the 2006 Québec Engineering Games came back with a raft of honours. École Polytechnique excelled in several disciplines and ranked first overall in cumulative scoring, with a comfortable six-point lead over its closest rivals, the team from Université de Sherbrooke. This exploit is worthy of mention because the games are usually decided by a margin of less than one point after the final tabulation. The competition, which took place at Université Laval January 3-7, 2006, brought together 400 students from 10 different university institutions.

Machine Competition
The only disappointment in the Poly team's results this year came in the Machine Competition, the Engineering Games' most important event and the one with the heaviest weighting in the final scoring. The event could not be included in the final tabulation this year because the course design failed to meet specifications.
"Our machine performed really well," team member Jonathan Arpin explained. "It even got around the course with very little trouble, something not many of the other teams can say about their entries. If the Machine Competition had been included in the final score, I'm sure we would have amassed even more points."
