John B. Stirling medal awarded to Michel Aubertin

Michel Aubertin, a tenured professor in École Polytechnique's Department of Civil, Geological and Mining Engineering, has been honoured by the Engineering Institute of Canada with the John B. Stirling Medal.


Professor Aubertin was awarded the medal in recognition of his exceptional leadership qualities in engineering as well as for services at the national level for the Institute.

Holder of the Industrial NSERC/Polytechnique/UQAT Chair on Environment and Mine Wastes Management and co-Director of the Hydrogeology and Mining Environment Laboratory, Professor Aubertin's research focuses on the management of mine wastes and their impact on the environment.

The John B. Stirling award will be presented to Professor Aubertin at the awards and honours ceremony to be held after the annual banquet of the Engineering Institute of Canada on Saturday, March 5, 2005 in Ottawa.
