Two Polytechnique Montréal students win 2012 NanoQuébec science poster contest
Myriam Jean and David Rioux won the contest for the best scientific posters at the 2012 NanoQuébec Conference, held March 20–21.
The 2012 NanoQuébec Conference offered a unique opportunity for delegates to learn about the latest economic, technical and scientific trends related to the field of nanotechnologies.
During the conference, more than 210 top-quality posters were presented, illustrating the scientific advances in nanotechnologies.
Two Polytechnique students were among the four winners:
Myriam Jean, Best Poster, Postdoctoral Fellow ($1,000 award):
Poster title: Chitosan-based Nanoparticles for GLP-1 Gene Delivery and DPP-IV Gene Silencing of In-vitro Cell Lines Relevant to Type 2 Diabetes
Her research work was supervised by Professors Abderrazzak Merzouki and Michael D. Buschmann of the Department of Chemical Engineering - Institut de génie biomédical.
and
David Rioux, Best Poster, PhD Student ($750 award)
Poster title: Nanosondes SERS basées sur des nanoparticules d'alliage or-argent produites par laser femtoseconde (SERS nanoprobes based on gold-silver alloy nanoparticles produced by femtosceond laser)
His research work was supervised by Professor Michel Meunier of the Department of Engineering Physics.
