The recipients for the 2010–2011 year are:

For doctoral dissertations

Liang Han, in the electrical engineering program, received a $2,000 award for his thesis titled “Integrated Communication and Radar Scheme for Future Intelligent Transportation Systems.” Mr. Han's work was supervised by Professor Ke Wu of the Department of Electrical Engineering.

A first honourable mention was awarded to Vincent Boucher, in the engineering physics program, for the quality of his doctoral dissertation, titled “Modélisation des propriétés électromagnétiques de métamatériaux à base de réseaux de fils ferromagnétiques.” Mr. Boucher's work was supervised by Professor David Ménard of the Department of Engineering Physics.

A second honourable mention was awarded to Pierre Pouponneau, in the Biomedical Engineering program, for the quality of his doctoral dissertation, titled “Microparticules magnétiques thérapeutiques pour la chimio-embolisation ciblée du foie.” Mr. Pouponneau's work was supervised by Professors Sylvain Martel of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Jean-Christophe Leroux of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Université de Montréal.

For master's theses

Philippe Versailles, in the Mechanical Engineering program, received a $1,000 award for his thesis, titled “Contrôle du retour de flamme dans le prémélangeur des turbines à gaz.” Mr. Versailles's work was supervised by Professors Huu Duc Vo of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Wajid A. Chishty of the National Research Council Canada Institute for Aerospace Research.

Edward Baraghis, in the Biomedical Engineering program, also received a $1,000 award for his thesis, titled “Développement d'un système de tomographie par cohérence optique pour la mesure de la compliance vasculaire cérébrale in-vivo.” Mr. Baraghis's work was supervised by Professors Frédéric Lesage and Caroline Boudoux of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering.

An honourable mention was given to Simon Couture, in the Electrical Engineering program, for the quality of his thesis, titled “Structures périodiques bi-dimensionnelles de fils métalliques: caractérisation et applications.” Mr. Couture's work was supervised by Professor Christophe Caloz of the Department of Electrical Engineering.

We extend our warmest congratulations to the winners, whose excellent work was recognized at the awards and bursaries ceremony on Thursday, March 29, 2012, and we wish them very successful careers.
