The student's fourth-year capstone project gave her the idea to write a novel.

The novel's 12 chapters immerse readers in the adventures of Titombre, a little ghost who's looking to get back to his grave in any way he can. Along the way, he encounters a number of obstacles and meets characters who give him a hand in his quest.

The idea for the novel came from her collaboration with Université de Montréal as part of a fourth-year project in the multimedia concentration. The concentration provides specialized knowledge in the field of digital media applications development. It focuses on two areas: graphics and 2D and 3D animation applications, and the field of interactive entertainment. For their final capstone project, students created a video game that showcased a ghost. Isabelle immediately felt inspired. “I started writing my book last January. In June, the book was in the editing phase and ready to go to print!” she says.

The book is aimed at 9- to 12-year-olds. It is now available at Chapters and Renaud-Bray for $9.95.

Congratulations to Isabelle Vallières Riendeau for her wonderful accomplishment!
