École Polytechnique has received the Maurice Pollack Award for equal access to employment for Quebeckers from cultural communities and visible minorities, accommodation of ethno-cultural diversity, and adaptation of services in the workplace. The award was bestowed by Minister of Immigration and Cultural Communities Lise Thériault on June 19 during the award ceremony at the 8th annual Prix québécois de la citoyenneté.

Polytechnique was awarded first prize in the "public and para-public companies or organizations" category for its study program designed to help individual immigrants integrate both socially and professionally. The personalized study program, leading to university certification, was launched by the school and its partners, including Emploi Québec and the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, to help students who are immigrants update their technical competencies and prepare for the qualifying exams of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.

Receiving the honour has encouraged Polytechnique to continue its efforts to integrate immigrant candidates into Quebec's engineering workforce.
