The Business Development Bank of Canada announced today that the “Power Up Eco-Change” project submitted by Jocelyn Doucet, owner of the Kengtek company and associate professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, will represent Québec in the finals for the BDC Young Entrepreneur Award 2013.

Jocelyn Doucet's project aims to help his company take a revolutionary waste transformation technology to the next level. To win the grand prize of $100,000, Doucet needs the help of votes from the general public Canadawide!

Kengtek, an engineering company that develops innovative technologies for industrial clients all over the world, is ready to take a new Canadian solution to market. It's a technology called Pyrowave, which transforms waste into renewable energy on the spot. Refined over four years and recognized by the international scietific and technical community, the technology was largely developed with a group led by Professor Jamal Chaouki with researcher Jean-Philippe Laviolette as part of a research project financed by Kengtek. Pyrowave has been subjected to advanced tests, but to demonstrate it on a larger scale, the company needs additional funds to build its first commercial unit.

The voting period for the BDC Young Entrepreneur Award 2013 begins May 22 and ends on June 11. To support the project of your choice, visit the competition microsite and vote once a day.

You can also follow the contest through updates on Facebook, Twitter (@BDC_News) and LinkedIn. You can also follow Jocelyn Doucet through Pyrowave's Twitter account (@Pyrowavetechno) and Facebook page.

Grand prize and second prize winners will be announced on June 17. The second prize winner will receive consultation services valued at $25,000.

Thanks to you, today's garbage could become tomorrow's resource. Vote now and tell your friends!
