Students from the Combinatorial Optimization course (MTH6311) took second place at the 4th Concours Jeux mathématiques (mathematical games).

Supervised by Sébastien Le Digabel, adjunct professor in the Department of Mathematical and Industrial Engineering, seven students took part in the Concours Jeux mathématiques and finished first. The games, organized by the Fédération Française des Jeux Mathématiques, the Société de Calcul Mathématique SA and the Brigade des Sapeurs Pompiers de Paris, consists of solving a societal problem.

In the coming days the winners will receive a €200 scholarship.

For its 2012–2013 edition, the competition focused on the problem of effective firefighting in Siberia. More precisely, the students were asked to offer decision-making assistance techniques to governments to help them distribute firefighting resources.

Our sincerest congratulations to Nadir Amaioua, Georges Baydoun, Romain Montagné, Dominique Cartier, Frédéric Quesnel, Koukla Azeuli-Nkamegni and Abderrazak Moutassim.
