CANADA RESEARCH CHAIR PROGRAM - $1.4 million granted to Polytechnique Montréal - Professor and researcher Robert Tremblay receives the renewed support of the government of Canada
Founded in 2003, this Canada research chair aims to develop money-saving design measures to ensure a uniform level of
earthquake protection across the entire country. It also takes an interest in new construction techniques to improve buildings'
ability to withstand earthquake shocks. Thanks to the chair's renewal, Professor Tremblay will be able to continue his research
to help improve our understanding of the complex reaction of buildings when they are subjected to high-intensity
earthquakes.
"The renewal of the research chair clearly illustrates the importance the Canadian government is placing on research work. Polytechnique is an incubator for impressive discoveries and technological innovations that help us to make a significant contribution to improving quality of life for people in Québec and Canada," said Christophe Guy, CEO of Polytechnique Montréal. Polytechnique currently holds 23 Canada research chairs.
