Amine Miled, Polytechnique doctoral student in electrical engineering, wins MEMSCAP Microsystems Design Award
Amine Miled, a doctoral student in electrical engineering directed by Professor Mohamad Sawan at Polytechnique Montréal's Polystim Neurotechnologies Laboratory, has won the 2010 MEMSCAP Microsystems Design Award in the TEXPO 2010 competition at the annual Canadian Microelectronics Corporation Annual Symposium held October 4 and 5 in Ottawa. The winning project is titled "LoC Dielectrophoresis-Based Implantable Device Dedicated for Cell Manipulation and Detection."
This competition is an opportunity for research teams from various Canadian universities to exhibit their work. Those
present included Polytechnique Montréal, University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University,
University of Ottawa and University of Calgary.
The competition aims to encourage students to build innovative microsystems using novel micro-manufacturing and assembly
processes with strong commercial potential.
After deliberating, the jury noted that Mr. Miled's research project was technically excellent, multidisciplinary and complex.
The jury also pointed to the quality of presentation and tangible industry interest in the project's real applications.
Congratulations, Mr. Miled!
