Four Polytechnique Montréal students honoured at International Microwave Symposium (IMS2012)

The four entered their projects in the student design competitions at the International Microwave Symposium (IMS2012), held June 17-22. The event was organized by Ke Wu, a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering.


With over 12,000 participants and more than 800 industrial exhibitors, the symposium, held during Microwave Week, is the world
's largest gathering of radio-frequency and microwave professionals.

The winners:

Sulav Adhikari
1st prize – Student design competition: Development of a Large-Signal-Network-Analyzer Round-Robin Artifact

Shabnam Ladan and Nasser Ghassemi
1st prize – Student design competition: Inaugural Student Wireless Energy Harvesting Design Competition

Jawad Attari
1st prize – Student design competition: Novel Application of Electromagnetic Simulators

The objectives of the student design competitions are to encourage students to become involved in the dynamic profession of microwave engineering, to apply their knowledge to practical design use, and to promote teamwork.

The award-winning students will also be invited to submit an article to the next edition of IEEE Microwave Magazine.
