TEN STEPS TO GET READY FOR YOUR stAY:

Complete immigration procedures

As soon as you receive your admission letter, start your immigration procedures: your passport, CAQ for studies, study permit, temporary resident visa and transit visa, if necessary. Processing times: 1 to 6 months.

Budget for life in Montréal, as well as your tuition / academic fees

Ensure your budget includes costs of living and tuition /academic fees for the entire duration of your stay in Canada.   

Learn about health insurance

Health insurance for international students is mandatory. If you are admissible for an exemption, you must begin the exemption process before your departure.

Register for welcome activities during La Rentrée (back-to-school week)

Register for mandatory International student activities. Make sure to register before the deadline!

Learn about your program's course progression and course choice / registration.

Book your plane tickets

Upon entry to Canada: immigration procedures

As soon as you enter Canadian territory, you should inform Canadian Border Service Agents that you're a student, here to study. Immigration processsing occurs at your first point of entry.
