International students

STEP 1 : IMMIGRATION
As soon as you receive your letter of admission, you should start immigration proceedings to obtain the authorizations required for all international students. These procedures can be lengthy and vary according to your personal situation.
If you deferred your admission, Canadian immigration might ask to see a letter confirming authorization of the deferral. You need to contact the Polytechnique Registrariat (Registrar’s Office) as soon as possible to request this letter. Write to registraire@polymtl.ca, being sure to mention your student ID number.
Note, too, that having a family member or friend already in Canada does not serve to speed up the procedure. Though the CAQ application can be sent from Montréal, you must apply for your study permit with the Canadian authorities in your country of origin. Both applications also require your signature along with original copies of the supporting documents. Indicating a Montréal address when you haven’t yet reached Canada may also entail additional delays.
