Introduction
The following information is for international students registered in a degree or diploma program at École Polytechnique. Exchange students must follow up with the relevant authorities in their country of origin.
International students are not eligible for the Québec Education Ministry’s student loans and bursaries program. École Polytechnique does not offer scholarships to international students enrolled in undergraduate programs; however, there are a limited number of scholarships available to international master’s or PhD students.
Students may be exempt from differential fees. To find out more, contact the relevant authorities in your country of origin. You are also encouraged to look into scholarships offered by external organizations.
You should not count on obtaining on-campus part-time work during your first semester. Job offers are limited and the competition is high.
If you receive funding from your government or another organization, verify the payment dates and details before coming to Canada. Ask for a detailed list of the costs covered by your grant or scholarship.
Certain governments and organizations do not cover the full range of study fees, such as:
- Thesis fees
- Health insurance
- Books
- Computer rental fees
- Accommodation
- Transportation
You also need to check whether the funds will arrive in time to cover your initial outlay. If your scholarship includes medical coverage, ensure that you have specific documentation attesting to this, since you will need it to withdraw from École Polytechnique’s compulsory health insurance plan.
If your scholarship fails to cover your academic and living expenses, you must provide Québec and Canadian immigration authorities with proof of sufficient additional financial resources.
