Cryptocurrencies, Blockchain and Intelligent Systems | Polytechnique Montréal expands its offering of short programs in emerging technologies to meet Québec labour market needs

Montréal, June 18, 2026 — Polytechnique Montréal is expanding its continuing education offering for professionals to respond quickly to the needs of Québec’s labour market through the launch of three short undergraduate programs in emerging technologies, two of which have received targeted support from the Government of Québec.
These three new short undergraduate programs are:
- Certificate in Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain (starting in Fall 2026);
- Certificate in Intelligent and Secure Systems (starting in Fall 2027);
- Microprogram in the Operationalization of intelligent systems (MLOps) (starting in Fall 2026).
Designed for people who are already working or changing careers, these programs focus on targeted, flexible training that can be applied directly in the workplace, in sectors where the demand for specialized talent is growing rapidly.
Agile training aligned with real-world needs
These new programs reflect Polytechnique Montréal’s ongoing commitment to offering cutting-edge training that complements traditional university pathways. The goal is to help professionals quickly acquire advanced skills sought by employers, while also supporting Québec’s public- and private-sector organizations as they adapt to digital transformation.
The rollout of the first two of these new programs is also part of the Québec government’s efforts to modernize the university program offering so that it better meets the province’s labour market needs and its economic priorities. Polytechnique Montréal has therefore received support from the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur to establish the two certificate programs:
The Certificate in Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain (certificat en cryptomonnaies et chaîne de blocs), which will be offered starting in Fall 2026, will help build expertise in a fast-evolving field, particularly in fraud investigation and blockchain analysis;
- The Certificate in Intelligent and Secure Systems (certificat en systèmes intelligents et sécurisés), which will be offered starting in 2027 and will address the emerging issues related to securing artificial intelligence, connected systems and quantum technologies.
- These two short programs build on Polytechnique Montréal’s already well-established certificate offerings, particularly in cybersecurity and cyber investigation, areas in which Polytechnique has distinguished itself in recent years in response to growing demands in both the public and private sectors.
Training the next generation in AI deployment
As part of this practical approach, Polytechnique has launched the Microprogram in the Operationalization of Intelligent Systems (MLOps) in order to address the growing challenges organizations face in integrating AI into their operations.
Created by the team in Polytechnique Montréal’s Department of Computer and Software Engineering, this undergraduate microprogram is designed to develop the essential skills needed to master the development, integration, deployment and management of intelligent systems in production.
Open to holders of a bachelor’s degree in science or an equivalent qualification, this microprogram is aimed at those wishing to specialize in the operationalization of AI systems, and opens the door to specialized roles within AI, software engineering and data engineering teams, as well as within any organization seeking to adopt robust, reliable and high-performing intelligent solutions.
Registration for the MLOps microprogram is already open, and the first cohort will begin in Fall 2026.

Microprogram in the Operationalization of Intelligent Systems | Microprogramme de perfectionnement en opérationnalisation des systèmes intelligents (MLOps) (15 credits)
- Specialized training in the deployment, monitoring and maintenance of artificial intelligence systems
- An approach oriented toward industry practices (data pipeline management, model monitoring, continuous integration)
- Skills development to ensure the reliability and performance of systems in production

- Coverage of the fundamentals of blockchain and smart contracts
- Training on regulatory, compliance and cybersecurity issues
- Analysis Learn of real-world applications of cryptocurrencies across various sectors
- Skills development in fraud investigation and risk management related to digital assets
- Admissions beginning in the Fall 2026 semester

Certificate in Intelligent and Secure Systems | Certificat en systèmes intelligents et sécurisés (30 credits)
- An integrated approach to system security, combining artificial intelligence, data and connected infrastructures (IoT, OT)
- An introduction to security issues related to large language models (LLMs) and autonomous systems
- Awareness of the impact of quantum computing on cybersecurity
- Training focused on the design of secure systems and the governance of emerging technologies
- Admissions beginning in the Fall 2027 semester
