WORLD FIRST IN UNIVERSITY RESEARCH ÉCOLE POLYTECHNIQUE DE MONTRÉAL INAUGURATES ITS THIXOMOLDING LABORATORY: A RESEARCH FACILITY FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE MANUFACTURING

Media representatives are invited to attend the official opening this Friday, November 4, of the Thixomolding Laboratory at the National Research Council of Canada's Industrial Materials Institute (IMI) in Boucherville, Québec. Research conducted in this world-class laboratory, the first of its kind, will focus on improving the manufacturing process of magnesium parts for use in high-performance applications in the automobile and electronics industries.

Guests will include Carmen Lowe, General Manager of HUSKY Canada; Paul Gingl, General Manager of G-MAG, a subsidiary of Magna International; Blaise Champagne, Director, Industrial Materials Institute (IMI); Claude Bédard, a representative of the Consortium de recherche en fabrication industrielle à haute performance; Frank Ajersch, Full Professor in Polytechnique's Department of Chemical Engineering and head of the Thixomolding Laboratory; and Robert L. Papineau, Director General of École Polytechnique.
