Christophe Guy, CEO of Polytechnique Montréal, appointed to the Order of Canada

Christophe Guy, Chief Executive Officer of Polytechnique Montréal, has been appointed a member of the Order of Canada by His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada. Prof. Guy is receiving this honour for his accomplishments as a chemical engineering professor and researcher and as a university administrator.

As a professor-researcher and environmental expert, Prof. Guy has authored more than 100 scientific papers and holds eight patents. Since 2007, this fervent defender of technology transfer has skilfully and successfully managed Polytechnique Montréal, always prioritizing diversity and quality in the teaching and training provided by the institution. Prof. Guy is active within major industry clusters in Montréal and has developed and maintained productive ties between Polytechnique and industry in recent years. As Polytechnique's Chief Research and Innovation Officer from 2001 to 2007, he provided the institution with world-class infrastructure and positioned it as a Canadian leader in engineering research and innovation. In 2011, he was elevated to the rank of Officer of the Ordre national du Québec, the highest distinction bestowed by the Government of Québec.

Membership in the Order of Canada recognizes outstanding contributions at the local or regional level or in a special field of activity. The awards will be presented at a ceremony at Rideau Hall at a later date.
