The Academie des Sciences of the Institut de France awarded the 2007 Grand Prix Alcan to Patrice Chartrand, associate professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Polytechnique Montreal and member of the Centre for Research in thermochemical calculations (CRCT). The academy underlines in this way her interest in the work of young research professor.
Annual Award (15,000 EUR) following the Pechiney Award established in 1986. It is given regardless of nationality, to a scientist aged 45 years or less, with an international reputation, a Ph.D. and whose work, from basic or applied, concern any scientific field can contribute to the progress of the aluminum industry.
