The Thomas W. Eadie Medal was established in 1975 by Bell Canada in appreciation of its past Chair person of the Board, Thomas Wardrope Eadie, and in recognition of the increasingly important role of Applied Science to the quality of life in Canada.
The Thomas W. Eadie Medal is awarded in recognition of major contributions to Engineering or Applied Science, with preference given to those having an impact on communications, in particular the development of the Internet. The award consists of a bronze medal and a cash award of $3,000, and is offered annually if there is a suitable candidate.
