Laureate - Professor
David Haccoun, a full professor in Polytechnique's Department of Electrical Engineering, has received the 2012 R. A. Fessenden Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for his contribution to the field of telecommunications. Professor Haccoun was chosen to receive the honour for his outstanding contributions in transmission error control by convolutional coding and its wireless communications applications.
IEEE Canada remembers, through the R.A. Fessenden silver medal, his pioneering transmission of intelligible speech by electromagnetic waves. Recipients of this medal are outstanding Canadian engineers recognized for their important contributions to the field of telecommunications engineering. Award established in 2000.
