The IEEE-VTS Stuart F. Meyer Award is in memory of Stuart F. Meyer, a full professor at Virginia Tech University who pioneered the world's first trunked radio systems for land mobile radio, a means of communication that preceded the current mobile telephony infrastructure. The Stuart F. Meyer Award is awarded to a researcher for outstanding contributions to telecommunications research and services to society.
