Alan J. Grodzinsky
2008
Alan J. Grodzinsky received a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1974. It is recognized worldwide for his research in biophysics, tissue engineering and mechanobiology of cartilage and arthritis. Biomedical engineering pioneer, his work led to learn more about the nature of cartilage, defining both its mechanical properties, biochemical and electrical, and linking them to gene expression and cell synthesis. This fundamental work has paved the way for new methods of diagnosis and medical treatment.
The award of an honorary doctorate by Polytechnique Montreal recognizes the competence and excellence of a person whose work or contribution to science or business - related mainly to engineering, technology or related fields- has been recognized nationally or internationally.
