Compulsory masks or face coverings at Polytechnique

Greetings to all,

Polytechnique would like to inform the community that wearing a mask or face covering will be mandatory in all shared, common areas of Polytechnique buildings effective Saturday, July 18, 2020, in accordance with measures announced by the Government of Québec on July 13, 2020.

Therefore, you will be required to wear a procedural mask or face covering during any transit or passage through common areas, departmental offices, and food service or cafeteria areas, hallways, elevators, etc. Masks or face coverings will also be required during activities in shared workspaces where maintaining a physical distance of two metres is not possible (for details, please refer to: Guide and Strategy for Activity Resumption at Polytechnique Montréal, available on Polyvirtuel).

Note that the requirement to wear a mask or face covering is in addition to other hygiene and health rules, such as physical distancing and hand washing.

Consistent with Polytechnique’s sustainable-development policies, we encourage the use of reusable face coverings. Two face coverings per person are provided by Polytechnique’s various departments and services. The Sûreté institutionnelle will also have disposable procedural masks available for those who have forgotten to bring a face covering.

Respecting measures introduced by Polytechnique during the COVID-19 pandemic ensures that everyone can work in the safest possible conditions for everyone’s health and well-being; your cooperation is appreciated.
