Founded in 1948, the National Association of Foreign Student Advisers (NAFSA) promotes the professional development of U.S. college and university officials responsible for assisting and advising the 25,000 foreign students who have come to study in the United States in the post-World War II era. The academic institutions, government agencies, and private organizations that combined to form NAFSA acknowledge that meeting the needs of diverse students requires special knowledge and skills. NAFSA has evolved over time, and it champions policies that link students, researchers, educators, and global citizens, so as to foster the development of international academic and economic partnerships required for success in the 21st century. NAFSA’s Annual Conference and Expo continues to be the preeminent destination in international education, and welcomes some 10 000 attendees from the world over. |
