Research interests

The Photochemical Surface Engineering Laboratory (PhotoSEL) conducts research in the following fields:

  • Photochemical surface engineering and functionalization;
  • Bridging the gap between small scale nanofabrication and large scale nanomanufacturing;
  • Gas phase treatment methods (PICVD, chemical reactions, plasma);
  • Nanoparticle stabilization, to prevent and reverse agglomeration;
  • Identification of low-cost nanoparticle sources;
  • Health and safety aspects of nanomaterials;
  • Valorization of domestic and industrial waste streams;
  • Biocompatibility of materials destined for implantation.
