Generic research

  • High order time and space monolithic finite element methods and numerical simulations,
  • Experimental determination of physical phenomena and validity of numerical methods
    • in fluid-structure interactions,
    • free surfaceflows,
    • dispersed two-phase flows.

Applications of developed numerical and experimental methods

  • Behavior of risers and tower risers, flexible structures used to raise oil up to surface. Work in collaboration with the oil offshore industry

    • Increase knowledge in vortex induced vibrations (VIV),
    • Damping of VIV and wake induced vibrations,
    • Determination of torsional galloping of non axisymmetric structures.
  • Vibratory behavior of tube bundles in transverse two-phase flow. vibratory phenomena occurring especially in steam generators of nuclear power plants.

    • Determination of the fluidelastic instability of tube bundles,
    • Characterization of bubbly two-phase flows,
    • Determination of damping induced by two-phase flow.
  • Behavior of floating structures

    • Buoys and small boats,
    • Sloshing in LNG tanks.
