Research areas description
Studying the impact of research on innovation and commercialization and the interaction between innovations clusters and networks, this work will shed light on how to improve corporate performance through university research, and help Canada keep pace with other countries when it comes to innovation.
Innovation is recognized today as a key component of businesses’ competitive advantage. Innovation ecosystems seem capable of generating more value than a single organization, thanks to their greater agility and resilience. What’s more, digital processing and broader collaboration are poised to make innovation even more effective. Connected objects and other digital entities are becoming enmeshed in collaboration mechanisms, forcing us to rethink a number of theories (proximity, open innovation, networks).
Dr. Catherine Beaudry, Canada Research Chair in Management and the Innovation Economy, plans to create multilevel analytical models (organizations-ecosystem-society) and a variety of indicators. The work being done by Beaudry and her research team will help focus governance and specific public policies on our innovation ecosystems.
